Become a Volunteer

VOLUNTEERING can be a very rewarding experience, where you have the opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends and offer something to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Although London Friend is co-ordinated and administered by a small staff team, services are delivered entirely by volunteers, including those working on the telephone helpline, within the counselling service and for the social and support groups. Fundraising, help with administration, publicity, recruitment and training of volunteers are also areas in which volunteers work in partnership with the office.

We are currently looking for a new TREASURER and two new TRUSTEES.

Please download documents below for information and complete a Skills Audit Form. Best wishes!

Application Form for VOLUNTEER COUNSELLORS

We are always looking for volunteers who can help us with the helpline, fundraising, publicity, administration, telephone befriending and running the groups, including the new carers group, for LGBT who are carers.

Full training will be given for all areas except counselling, where we ask that volunteers are either fully qualified or working towards qualification on an accredited training. We also require counsellors to have completed a minimum of 30 clinical face-to-face hours and to be in individual therapy.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please read the relevant documents below before filling in an application form.
